The Symposium on Communication by Gaze Interaction organized by the COGAIN Association will be co-located with ETRA 2022, the ACM Symposium on Eye Tracking Research & Applications. ETRA 2022 will take place (on site/hybrid/virtually) in Seattle, WA, USA, on June 11 from 10am to 12am (UTC -7).
COGAIN started in September 2004 as a network of excellence supported by the European Commission's IST 6th framework program, and integrates cutting-edge expertise on interface technologies for the benefit of users with disabilities. The network aims to gather the world's leading expertise in eye tracking integration with computers in a research project on assistive technologies for citizens with motor impairments.
By combining our efforts with ETRA, we hope to encourage a broader exchange of knowledge and experiences amongst eye tracking communities of researchers, developers, manufacturers, and users.
This year's special topic for COGAIN is dedicated to the opportunities and challenges of collaboration with eye-tracking technology. We therefore invite position papers and work-in-progress papers that are related to collaborative use cases that involve eye gaze interactions, such as:
The COGAIN workshop focuses on all aspects of gaze interaction related to eye-controlled assistive technology. Thanks to its strong identity, the symposium will be the right venue to present advances on a wide range of topics from new capabilities in gaze interaction, gaze enhanced applications, to gaze contingent devices, etc. It should be clear from the authors submission how their work related to assistive technologies or this year's theme.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
One half of the COGAIN Symposium is dedicated to presentations and a discussion about the future of human collaboration with gaze based technologies gaze-based assistive technologies, aimed at community building. Late-breaking research results are put forward in the second half of the symposium.
As ETRA 2022 is a hybrid virtual/physical event, presentations are expected to take place as live presentation or pre-recorded videos to ensure high-level delivery and allow for asynchronous participation. We invite authors to prepare and submit papers following ETRA's ACM format: https://etra.acm.org/2022/submissionprocess.html
Both special and general topic papers will be submitted in the same system, format, and deadline. Papers should have a size that fits to the contribution, up to eight pages long (single-column format, not counting references), anonymized, and submitted via PCS: https://new.precisionconference.com/etra (select the COGAIN track from the drop down list). The timeline for this is as follows (all times are AoE):
Each paper will be reviewed by members of the Program Committee. Accepted papers will be included in ETRA's Workshop Proceedings, and we expect that at least one author per submission will register for the conference.
